The Alliance for Clinical Research Excellence and Safety (ACRES), a growing global network created to improve the safety, quality, and efficiency of clinical research, has announced their initiative to construct an open information platform supporting clinical research, according to Jennifer Bresnick on healthitanalytics.com. ACRES President, Dr. Greg Koski commented, “Our vision is to work collaboratively with stakeholders to build a non-proprietary shared IT platform for clinical research that incorporate standards ensuring inter-operability and inter-change of data while safeguarding privacy and security. More than a portal, this interface allows sites to share their capabilities and get involved.”

The interface will include key features such as: sharing professional credentials and study-related documents, online performance dashboard, risk-based quality management analytics, and cloud-based tools for enhanced workflow management, compliance, and safety reporting. ACRES began registering participants in 2013 with the launch of a preliminary registration platform. The remaining development and implementation of the interface is expected to occur over the next year with an investment of just under $10 million.
