According to an article in EurekAlert by Emma Mason, new research shows that more children are surviving cancer in Britain when participating in clinical trials. In fact, the article states that overall only 28% of children diagnosed with cancer between 1966-1970 survived for five years, but by 2005 this number had increased dramatically to 79%.

This improvement has been driven by an increased number of children taking part in clinical trials since the UK Children’s Cancer Study Group (UKCCSG) was established in 1977. This organization makes it easier for families to find and learn about present and future trials.
